Ja, ek dink jy is reg alhoewel ek wonder of die internet medium nie ’n groter invloed sal he^ as bv radio of televisie nie.

‘n Lekker opstel van Dennett om te lees is: There Aren’t Enough Minds to House the Population Explosion of Memes.

Johan, another fascinating idea from the philosopher Dan Dennett is that memes are able to manipulate (not consciously or directly of course) the way our brains evolve. People that host certain memes are more attractive than others and through sexual selection the genes of the attractive host are passed on. Over time the brain changes to become more vulnerable to infection by those memes.

In Dennett’s book ‘Consciousness Explained’ he writes:

“The haven all memes depend on reaching is the human mind, but a human mind is itself an artifact created when memes restructure a human brain in order to make it a better habitat for memes. The avenues for entry and departure are modified to suit local conditions, and strengthened by various artificial devices that enhance fidelity and prolixity of replication: Chinese minds differ dramatically from native French minds, and literate minds differ from illiterate minds.”
